9 months

Gavin had his 9 month check up today, it was sad, he had to get a shot and then a finger prick for a lead test (something they have to do here back East since all the houses are so old). Also it was sad because I cannot stand the idea that he is that close to turning one! I feel like with the second the time goes by so much faster and I just want to slow it down. He is so incredibly delightful at this age that I just want to freeze him this way. It's funny how with Liam we were so eager for him to reach milestones and with Gavin I almost don't want him to because I want him to stay a baby longer. One of my favorite things about Gavin lately is that his love for me is becoming so evident (a bit self centered I know), like yesterday when I picked him up from the child care at the gym, he was perfectly happy hanging out with one of the babysitters until he saw me, then he burst out crying, sooo sweet! And today with all the trauma of two doctors appointments, he just wanted to nuzzle into his mama. It feels so good to be able to provide him with the love and security he needs.

Have you ever noticed how from a young age babies figure out to say "ma ma" when they need something? Sad, tired, hungry, Gavin has used that sound to express needs for a few months now and I just think it is so cool. The doctor today said that babies usually say "ma ma" for sad and "da da" for when they are happy, go figure:) I also love how he likes to share the joy he feels in learning new things, every time he develops a new skill he just has to find you and give you a big grin, he is saying "look at me, look at me" in his own way. He is so talkative too, if he hears another baby talking he gets a huge smile on his face and starts yelling out to them. Anyway, here are some pictures of our sweet Gav that I took about a month ago, the sad thing about the pictures is that many of them ended up being out of focus as I did not know that the auto focus was off, the good thing is that I still got quite a few good ones, and be warned, I am going to post ALL of the good ones! Ha ha, I have a hard time making decisions:)

The many faces of Gavin.

I love this. If I can't be home with him, at least I can look at pictures and read about him...

They're all adorable shots. No need to limit the amount of pictures you post when they're all good! :)

post like this remind me how I wish we lived nearer to each other, like neighbors that share a fence. For one, I would probably like you dog A LOT more than I like my neighbor's dog. For two, we at practically the same stage (except your husband has a real job). Our kids could play, we could moan over the fact that our babies are growing too fast and talk about the lead tests that need to be done because we live in such old houses. I would say we should both just settle somewhere between where we are now, but I think we would end up in like Iowa or the Dakotas and well I don't think that will work for me.
